Diverse Socks Service Learning Project
Please join the McKinley Diversity Committee's 2022 MLK Jr. Service Learning Project by donating new socks and thermals to benefit Stenton Family Manor through February 28. More information can be found on this flyer.
Used Crayon Drive
A student who attends Abington Senior High School has started a Used Crayon Drive. These crayons will be recycled into new crayons and donated to hospitals to be used by children.
There will be a box in the vestibule until March 28 for you to drop off old, used, and broken crayons. See this flyer for more information.
Recycling: Used Markers and Other School Supplies
McKinley now offers recycling of used markers and other school supplies through Terracycle's Bic Stationary Recycling Program (see this flyer). This is an amazing program devised to repurpose used school supplies rather than sending them to landfills!
Items that can be recycled through this program include all brands of empty writing instruments, glue sticks, watercolor dispensers, paint sets, and flexible packaging.
Please help support our efforts by sending your kids in with any of the items listed above that you may have around the house. The drop-off box is located outside the Art Room. Thanks for your support!
Update from the 5th and 6th Grade Committees
We hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of the new year! The 5th and 6th grade committees have been busy and are happy to report the following:
We are so close to meeting our fundraising goal! Thanks to all of the families that supported our dine-and-donate fundraisers – 5th/6th grade received $1,839.47 from Iron Hill, $165 from Trios and $300 from Luigi's. The committees need to raise about $800 more to fully fund all of the exciting end of year activities/gifts planned. We can easily meet our fundraising goals if we sell out of our remaining Wawa vouchers.
We need your help to sell 91 more vouchers!! Vouchers are valid at all Wawa locations throughout the mid-Atlantic region and never expire. Wawa vouchers for $5 Shortis are perfect to use as Valentine’s day gifts, thank you gifts, or rewards for your kids. Vouchers can be purchased by filling out the Google form below and sending payment into school or through Venmo @mckinley5thand6thfundraising.
